Gianluca Di Marzio, as quoted by Metro, is reporting that the north London club are closing in on a deal to land the 24-year-old, who has struggled for first team opportunities recently at Camp Nou.
Suarez worked under Arsenal boss Unai Emery at Sevilla, and according to the same story, Arsenal are expected to pay a fee of around £14m to seal the deal.
The Spaniard has only made a total of four appearances in all competitions for FC Barcelona so far this season – and all of them from the bench. He has only played a total of 41 minutes so far this term for the Spanish side.
The same article says that the arrival of the Spaniard will be viewed as the club bringing in a replacement for Aaron Ramsey, who is expected to sign for Juventus.
However, the same story says Arsenal do not want to offload Ramsey this month and would prefer to keep hold of the Wales international until the end of the season.
The same article claims that Emery would still like to bring in central defensive reinforcements this month, but the Gunners may have to sell before they can bring in any new players in January.
