Arsenal linked with move to sign 21-year-old from PSG – report
Arsenal are weighing up a move to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku, according to a report
Arsenal are considering a swoop to sign Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Christopher Nkunku after growing frustrated in their pursuit of Denis Suarez, according to a report in England.
The Evening Standard is reporting that the Gunners have started to look at other options to improve their midfield after coming to a stalemate with FC Barcelona in negotiations over Suarez’s transfer.
The same article states that the Catalan side could sell Suarez for £20m now or are willing to loan the Spaniard to Arsenal with a firm agreement for a permanent deal in place ahead of the summer.
According to the same story, the north London side don’t want to allocate part of their summer budget to Suarez’s signing and the Gunners are looking elsewhere to bolster their midfield.
PSG could be willing to send Nkunku on loan to Arsenal given that the 21-year-old has fallen out of favour under Thomas Tuchel, the Evening Standard goes on to say.
The France Under-21 international scored seven goals in 43 games under current Arsenal boss Unai Emery during his two seasons at the Ligue 1 champions.
Arsenal suffered a 3-1 loss to Manchester United in the FA Cup fourth round at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The Gunners have struggled for consistency in recent months but remain in the race to secure a top-four finish.
