Arsenal ‘hopeful’ of completing first January signing – report
Arsenal are still aiming to complete a deal to sign Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this month, say reports
Arsenal are “hopeful” of concluding a deal to sign Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this month after hold fresh talks about a move, according to reports in the British media.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are closing in on a deal to bring the 25-year-old midfielder to The Emirates this January as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad at the north London club.
The same report says that Emery himself is “particularly keen” on signing the FC Barcelona man. The proposed deal would be for Arsenal to loan him until the summer and then potentially sign him for around £18m at the end of the season.
However, the same report says that FC Barcelona have been adamant throughout the process that they do not want to let Suarez leave the club this month.
The story also claims that Arsenal would only be likely to do a loan deal in January, something which FC Barcelona are not too keen on.
The Daily Mirror report adds that Suarez has always been Arsenal’s top transfer target this month, and they will continue to try and bring him in before the end of January.
Suarez has barely featured for FC Barcelona so far this season and has only played 17 minutes in La Liga for the Spanish side.
