Arsenal and Manchester City are both interested in a potential deal to sign Everton midfielder Idrissa Gueye, according to a report in England.

Sky Sports is reporting that the Senegal international is eager to leave Everton following a bid from Paris Saint-Germain.

The same article states that the Ligue 1 side failed with a £21.5m offer to sign the combative midfielder in the January transfer window.

According to the same story, Gueye has handed in a transfer request in an attempt to force an exit at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports goes to claim that Arsenal and Manchester City are now ready to rival the Ligue 1 champions for the Everton star’s signature.

Gueye has made 20 Premier League appearances for Everton so far this season.

It is no secret that Gunners manager Unai Emery is looking to improve his midfield in the current transfer window.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of midfielder in January, including FC Barcelona midfielder Denis Suarez.

Manchester City suffered a surprise 2-1 loss to Newcastle United on Tuesday night despite taking the lead at St James’ Park.

Fernandinho conceded a penalty in the second half to give Matt Ritchie the chance to score the winner.

Arsenal, meanwhile, returned to winning ways following their FA Cup exit with a 2-1 victory over Cardiff City at The Emirates.
