Arsenal make contact with Real Madrid about loan deal for 27-year-old – report
Arsenal are interested in signing James Rodriguez on loan from Real Madrid, according to reports
Arsenal have made contact with Real Madrid to discuss the possibility of signing James Rodriguez on loan until the end of the season, according to reports in the British media.
The Independent is reporting that intermediaries have made initial contact with the Spanish side about the possibility of signing the Colombia international on an initial loan deal.
Rodriguez, 27, is currently on loan to Bayern Munich until the end of the season and Real Madrid are apparently keen to sell him on a permanent transfer in the summer, according to the same story.
As well as Arsenal, Rodriguez is believed to also be attracting interest from Serie A side Napoli.
The same story, though, says that Rodriguez is keen to try and fight for a place in the Real Madrid side when he is due to return to the club in the summer.
But his first team opportunities may be made even more scarce if the Spanish outfit sign Christian Eriksen from Tottenham this summer, according to the same story.
The same report says that all clubs involved would favour a loan move for now, and Bayern would be open to a temporary deal as well.
Rodriguez has found his first-team opportunities to be limited this season, and he has only started five Bundesliga games so far.
Arsenal are yet to sign any new players this month as Unai Emery looks to strengthen his squad before the end of the campaign.
