Arsenal are keen on a move to sign AS Monaco midfielder Youssef Ait Bennasser, according to reports in the British media.

Italian media outlet Calciomercato, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Gunners are showing an interest in signing the £9m-rated midfielder from the Ligue 1 side.

According to the same report, Arsenal are potentially interested in a deal to sign Bennasser on loan before making the transfer permanent in the summer.

The same article says that Arsenal are showing the strongest interest in signing the 22-year-old Morocco international.

The midfielder has made two assists in 12 Ligue 1 appearances for Monaco so far this season.

The story says that Monaco would be willing to agreeing a loan deal for Bennasser this month, and that it could have the option to be made permanent in the summer.

The article also claims that Serie A sides AC Milan and Genoa have enquired about Bennasser as well, and that Milan were quoted around £9m (€10m) for the France-born midfielder by Monaco.

Arsenal could well look to bring in some reinforcements this month as Unai Emery looks to bolster his squad ahead of the second part of the season.

The Gunners lost 1-0 to West Ham on Saturday to leave them fifth in the Premier League table.
