Paul Merson is backing Chelsea FC to secure a big win in the context of the top-four race at Arsenal on Saturday evening.

The Blues will make the short trip to The Emirates desperate to avoid a defeat that would leave Arsenal a mere three points adrift of Maurizio Sarri’s side.

Chelsea FC are in pole position to secure the final Champions League qualification spot given the west London side are currently six points clear of Arsenal and Manchester United.

Sarri’s men were 3-2 winners against the Gunners at Stamford Bridge back in August after Marcos Alonso scored a dramatic winner.

Arsenal have the third-best home record in the Premier League after bouncing back from an opening day loss to Manchester City to win eight times and draw twice.

The Gunners have only managed to win two of their last six Premier League fixtures ahead of the visit of Chelsea FC this weekend.

Former Arsenal midfielder Merson believes Chelsea FC will edge to a 2-1 win over their top-four rivals at the Emirates Stadium in Saturday’s late kick-off.

“Arsenal have to win this game otherwise it’s all in for the Europa League, which may actually help as they can then concentrate on that competition as they’ll be out of the top-four race,” Merson told Sky Sports.

“There’s no way they can balance both – the squad isn’t strong or big enough.

“I fancy an away win.”

Chelsea FC have failed to win in their last three visits to The Emirates ahead of Saturday’s clash.

The Blues were 2-1 winners against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge last weekend, while Arsenal suffered a 1-0 loss to West Ham at the London Stadium.
