Michael Owen states his prediction for Bournemouth v Chelsea FC
The Liverpool FC legend is tipping Chelsea FC to beat Bournemouth to get their top-four bid back on track
Michael Owen is backing Chelsea FC to kick-start their top-four challenge with a win against Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
The Blues lost 2-0 to bitter London rivals Arsenal in their last Premier League fixture to offer the chasing pack encouragement with 15 games to go.
Arsenal and Manchester United are three points adrift of fourth-placed Chelsea FC to ensure an enthralling race for the final Champions League qualification spot.
Chelsea FC booked their place in the League Cup final last week after a penalty shootout victory over Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
Maurizio Sarri’s progressed to the FA Cup fifth round on Sunday night thanks to a 3-0 win against Sheffield Wednesday in west London.
Given their progress in both domestic cup competitions, confidence should be high in the Chelsea FC camp ahead of their trip to Bournemouth.
Sarri could also hand January loan signing Gonzalo Higuain his first Premier League appearance at the Vitality Stadium.
Former Liverpool FC striker Owen is backing Chelsea FC to beat Bournemouth on the south coast on Wednesday night.
“Bournemouth have lost their last five home games against Chelsea in all competitions and have already been beaten by the Blues twice this season including a 1-0 defeat in the League Cup at the Vitality Stadium,” Owen told BetVictor.
“Bournemouth have had the week off to prepare for the visit of the Blues while Chelsea reached the Final of the League Cup on Thursday and are in FA Cup action on Sunday.
“Maurizio Sarri’s side are struggling for goals and have not scored more than twice in their last dozen Premier League games which is a surprise for a side of their quality.
“I’m looking forward to seeing loan signing Gonzalo Higuain reunited with Sarri, after their successful spell together in Naples, and it will be fascinating to see what impact the 31-year-old Argentinian striker can make in the Premier League.
“The Cherries returned to winning ways against West Ham last weekend, but I just think the visitors will take the points back to the capital.”
Chelsea FC were 2-0 winners against Bournemouth in their meeting at Stamford Bridge back in September courtesy of goals from Pedro and Eden Hazard.
The Blues followed up that result with a 1-0 victory over the Cherries in the League Cup in December.
