Maurizio Sarri has confirmed that he is hopeful that Olivier Giroud will be back available for selection in around 10 days.

The France striker has been out of action since limping off against Crystal Palace last weekend and he missed the goalless draw with Southampton on Wednesday night due to the injury.

However, Sarri seems to be hopeful that the former Arsenal star will be available for selection again sooner rather than later as Chelsea FC prepare for their FA Cup clash with Nottingham Forest on Saturday.

Speaking about Giroud at his post-match news conference at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night, Sarri said: “I think it’s better than what I thought after the Crystal Palace match. The doctor told me in 10 days he will be able to train.”

Meanwhile, Willian picked up an injury on Wednesday night and had to come off in the 37th minute at Stamford Bridge.

However, the Chelsea FC boss seems to be optimistic about Willian’s problem and is also hoping to see Pedro Rodriguez back in action soon.

He continued: “I don’t think Willian’s injury is very serious.

“[And] the report from the doctor is not serious for Pedro, I think in one week he will be able to train with his team-mates.”

Chelsea FC’s draw with Southampton left them in fourth place in the Premier League table and just three points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal.

The Blues will return to Premier League action on Saturday 12 January when they take on Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge in the top flight.
