The Belgium international has been used in a central role in Maurizio Sarri’s attack over the past month or so.
The Chelsea FC manager has been forced to use his best player in an unorthodox role due to the inconsistent form of strikers Alvaro Morata and Olivier Giroud.
The 27-year-old has scored nine goals and has made 10 assists in the Premier League this season to make a strong start under Sarri.
However, his goals have started to come less frequently since the number 10 was switched to a lone strike role in Sarri’s team.
The Chelsea FC boss is adamant that Hazard is happy playing in the position despite traditionally being used as a winger.
Former Blues defender Le Saux believes Hazard is better suited to playing on the left wing, rather than as a striker.
“He is more effective and happier on the left,” Le Saux told NBC Sport.
“He can watch play build up from a different angle. He can time his run. Once he moves, he is difficult for a defender to pick him up.
“When he has his back to goal as a centre-forward, he runs into too many bodies.”
Chelsea FC were initially talked up as potential title challengers this season after Sarri’s side made an impressive unbeaten start to the Premier League season.
However, the Blues have lost to Tottenham Hotspur, Wolves and Leicester City in the Premier League to fall out of the title race.
Chelsea FC are facing a battle to secure a top-four spot amid competition from Arsenal, while Manchester United have improved since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s appointment.
