Gonzalo Higuain excited to reunite with Chelsea FC star
The Chelsea FC signing is looking forward to sharing the pitch with Jorginho again after their stint together at Napoli
Gonzalo Higuain says he is excited to play with Jorginho after crediting the Chelsea FC star for his role in the striker’s most prolific season to date.
The Argentina international completed a loan move to Chelsea FC on Wednesday night after a disappointing stint at AC Milan.
Higuain moved to the San Siro outfit from Juventus on loan at the start of the season but the South American managed to score six goals in 15 games in Serie A.
Maurizio Sarri worked with Higuain for one season at Napoli and the 31-year-old scored 36 goals in 35 games in the Italian top flight.
Jorginho was also part of the Napoli team that helped Higuain to score more goals in a single campaign than any other player in Serie A history.
The Italy international has come under fire in recent months after poor performances in losses to Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur.
But Chelsea FC signing Higuain is excited to work with Jorginho at the west London side again.
“It was my best year as a player and he’s a wonderful midfielder who contributed to that,” Higuain told Chelsea FC’s website.
“He’s also a very good friend of mine so it’s a real pleasure to once more be joining up with him, and I hope we can achieve great things together again.”
Higuain has previously played for River Plate, Real Madrid, Napoli, Juventus and AC Milan.
The Argentina international featured in the 2014 World Cup final but La Celeste lost to Germany in extra time after Mario Gotze’s winner.
Higuain sat in the stands as Chelsea FC beat Tottenham on penalties to reach the League Cup final on Thursday night.
Chelsea FC will make the trip to Bournemouth on Wednesday when Higuain could make his Premier League debut.
