Chelsea FC coach: What Maurizio Sarri told me about Eden Hazard
Gianfranco Zola lifts the lid on Eden Hazard and his form for Chelsea FC so far this season
Gianfranco Zola has revealed that Maurizio Sarri thinks that Eden Hazard still has room for improvement at Chelsea FC.
Hazard, 28, is widely regarded as one of Europe’s top attacking talents and he has made a strong start to the new campaign under Chelsea FC boss Sarri.
The playmaker has scored 10 goals and made 10 assists in 22 Premier League games for the Blues so far this term to help the west London side up to fifth place in the table.
Hazard did not feature for Chelsea FC in their 3-0 win over Sheffield Wednesday in the FA Cup on Sunday but he was the star of the show as he helped the Blues to beat Tottenham and reach the League Cup final last week.
The Belgium international’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months, as his contract is due to expire at Stamford Bridge in the summer of 2020.
Now, Chelsea FC assistant boss Zola has revealed that both he and Sarri feel that Hazard still has more room for improvement as he looks to step his game up in the second half of the season.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Chelsea FC’s website, Zola said: “Maurizio said he believes the potential is greater than the performance.
“He is not saying he is not happy with what Eden is doing; he just believes he can do more for himself and the team.
“We need to try and get him as close as possible to what he did on Thursday [against Spurs in the League Cup], but we know to do that every single game is impossible.”
Hazard will be hoping to feature when Chelsea FC travel to Bournemouth on Wednesday night.
