Harry Kane scored the only goal of the game from the penalty spot on Tuesday night as Tottenham claimed a 1-0 win over Chelsea FC in the first leg of their semi-final clash at Wembley.
Chelsea FC will now look to overhaul Spurs’ lead when the Lilywhites travel to Stamford Bridge on Thursday 24 January in the return leg of the League Cup semi-final clash.
And Blues boss Sarri has warned the Lilywhites that his Chelsea FC team will do everything in their power to overcome the deficit when they travel to Stamford Bridge later in the month.
Speaking at his post-match news conference on Tuesday night, Sarri said: “Chelsea v Tottenham is a very difficult match and also for them, so it will not be easy to win at Stamford Bridge but after this performance, if we are able to play on the same level I think that we can do it.”
Chelsea FC defender Andreas Christensen insisted that his side are staying positive.
“After we went 1-0 down it was good that we didn’t just think it was over, we kept going and we knew we just had to stay in the game because it’s over two legs,” Christensen told Chelsea FC’s website.
“We’re still in it and we think we can decide the game at home.”
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their home Premier League clash against Newcastle United at Stamford Bridge on Saturday night.
Tottenham, on the other hand, are gearing up for their crunch showdown against Manchester United at Wembley on Sunday afternoon as both London sides look to continue their pushes towards top four finishes.
