Ian Wright has warned Maurizio Sarri that he could be in trouble at Chelsea FC if the Italian manager doesn’t get a reaction from his players against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday night.

The Blues suffered a resounding 2-0 loss to fifth-placed Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday evening to lose their grip on the final Champions League qualification spot.

Sarri didn’t hold back in his assessment of Chelsea FC’s performance at the Emirates Stadium after the Blues struggled to cope with Arsenal in the opening 45 minutes.

The Chelsea FC manager admitted that some members of his squad are “extremely difficult to motivate” ahead of their home clash against Tottenham in the second leg of their League Cup semi-final on Thursday night.

Sarri made a promising start to his Chelsea FC reign after going unbeaten until late November when Tottenham were 3-1 winners against their London rivals at Wembley.

Former Arsenal striker Wright warned Sarri that the League Cup clash could determine his fate at the west London side.

“If there is a reaction and they win the game, you have to say it is good management,” Wright told BBC Radio Five Live Daily.

“If they do not react to that, major questions will be asked if he is the right man to continue.

“If you can’t motivate them after you make it public you can’t motivate them, you’re in big trouble.”

Chelsea FC summer signing Jorginho was particularly disappointing in Saturday evening’s 2-0 loss to Arsenal at The Emirates.

Sarri has attracted criticism for deploying Jorginho in a holding midfield role rather than former PFA player of the year N’Golo Kante.

Chelsea FC are in fourth spot but a mere three points ahead of Arsenal and Manchester United.
