Reporter: Why Chelsea FC could beat rivals to 26-year-old striker

Bournemouth may prefer to sell Callum Wilson to Chelsea FC rather than West Ham United, Sky Sports News reporter Dharmesh Sheth has suggested.

The 26-year-old England international has emerged as a potential target for the west London side in the January transfer window.

Maurizio Sarri is light on options up front and Chelsea FC are thought to be ready to sell Spanish flop Alvaro Morata.

Wilson has scored nine times in the Premier League this season and Bournemouth will be reluctant to sell their striker for anything less than his maximum value.

West Ham are reportedly facing the prospect of losing Austria international Marko Arnautovic to the Chinese Super League this month.

The Hammers forward’s potential departure would leave a big void in Manuel Pellegrini’s team.

Wilson has been touted as a ready-made replacement for Arnautovic should the controversial forward move to China.

And Sky Sports News reporter Sheth explained why Bournemouth could prefer to sell Arnautovic to West Ham rather than Chelsea FC.

“We heard Chelsea would be willing to pay £50m to get Wilson but could West Ham afford that?” Sheth told the Sky Sports Transfer Window podcast.

“The other question is if, and it is a big if, Bournemouth were to sell, would they sell to West Ham or Chelsea? On the face of it, you’d think West Ham would be more of a rival than Chelsea FC are. That’s just an opinion though.

“Bournemouth are under no pressure to sell him – but money talks.”

Chelsea FC have already confirmed the signing of Borussia Dortmund playmaker Christian Pulisic in the January transfer window, but the United States international is set to be loaned back to the Bundesliga outfit for the remainder of the season.

The Blues are still contending with speculation linking their star man Eden Hazard with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid.
