Chelsea FC midfielder reaches agreement for January exit – report
Cesc Fabregas has reached an agreement to join AS Monaco from Chelsea FC, say reports
Cesc Fabregas has reached an agreement to join Monaco from Chelsea FC in the January transfer window, according to reports in the Italian media.
Italian media outlet Calciomercato is reporting that the 31-year-old midfielder has settled on a deal to move to AS Monaco to work under his former Arsenal team-mate Thierry Henry.
According to the same story, AC Milan were also keen on Fabregas but the Italian side could not match the Blues’ asking price for the former Arsenal captain.
Monaco, it is claimed in the same report, will sign Fabregas on a permanent deal for a fee of around €10m, and on a five-year contract.
The same article, though, says that Fabregas’ move away from Stamford Bridge will not be officially confirmed until Chelsea FC sign a new central midfielder to replace him.
Fabregas’ exit would not come as much of a surprise, given his lack of playing time under Maurizio Sarri so far this season.
Indeed, the former FC Barcelona star has only made one Premier League start for the Blues so far this season – and he has only notched up two assists in all competitions.
Meanwhile, Fabregas could still be involved when Chelsea FC host Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup third round on Saturday.
