Chelsea FC are keen on a move to sign FC Barcelona midfielder Ivan Rakitic this summer, according to reports in the Spanish media.
Spanish media outlet Sport, as quoted by the Daily Express, is reporting that the Blues are looking to “overhaul” their squad at the end of the season as they prepare for Maurizio Sarri’s second campaign in charge.
The same story says that the 30-year-old Rakitic is high on Sarri’s transfer shortlist as the Italian boss begins to think about the summer window.
Rakitic has been a regular fixture in the FC Barcelona team so far this season and he has scored two goals and made one assist in 20 La Liga games for the Spanish side.
He has also scored one and set up two in six Champions League appearances for the La Liga outfit.
The same story claims that Chelsea FC are eyeing Rakitic as a potential replacement for Cesc Fabregas, who moved to AS Monaco in the January transfer window.
The article also claims that Rakitic could leave FC Barcelona in the summer after the Spanish side signed Frenkie De Jong from Ajax – with the transfer officially going through at the end of the season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC will host Huddersfield in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
