Chelsea FC eye quality striker in potential £100m deal – report
Chelsea FC owner Roman Abramovich is a big admirer of Inter Milan captain Mauro Icardi, according to a report
Chelsea FC are considering a potential £100m offer to sign Inter Milan forward Mauro Icardi – and owner Roman Abramovich is a big admirer of the Argentine, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Chelsea FC owner is keen to sign the South American forward to bolster the west London side’s attacking options.
The same article states that Blues manager Maurizio Sarri is eager to add a top striker to his squad given Alvaro Morata’s disappointing form this season.
According to the same story, Chelsea FC are considering making a club-record offer in the region of £100m for the prolific Inter Milan striker.
Icardi has scored nine goals in 16 games in Serie A this season to underline his reputation as one of the Italian top flight’s best goal-scorers.
The Argentina international has netted an incredible 120 times in 205 games in all competitions since his move to Inter Milan from Sampdoria in 2013.
Icardi is Inter’s captain but the San Siro outfit have so far been unable to negotiate a contract extension with the South American forward.
The 25-year-old’s current deal has a clause in his contract which would allow him to move to a club outside Europe if a £100m bid was submitted, according to the same story.
Chelsea FC have relied heavily upon Belgian forward Eden Hazard in the current campaign as Morata and Olivier Giroud struggle to hit top form.
