Chelsea FC are facing competition from Inter Milan and Napoli to sign Nicolo Barella from Cagliari, according to reports
Chelsea FC are facing competition from the likes of Inter Milan and Napoli in a move to try and sign Nicolo Barella from Cagliari, according to reports in the British media.
Goal is reporting that the Blues are keen on a deal for the 21-year-old midfielder now that the January transfer window is open.
However, according to the same story, the player himself is not so keen on a move in the mid-season transfer window.
According to the same report, Serie A giants Napoli and Inter Milan are willing to wait until the summer before making moves to try and land Barella.
That means that it would take a “persuasive” offer from Chelsea FC to convince the young midfielder to move to Stamford Bridge in the January window.
The same story says that Chelsea FC could still look to sign a direct replacement for Cesc Fabregas, while also keeping tabs on Barella as a potential target.
Italy international Barella has scored one goal in 18 Serie A games for Cagliari so far this season.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are currently preparing for their home clash against Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday night.
