Maurizio Sarri reveals the signing he wants Chelsea FC to make this month
Maurizio Sarri believes that Chelsea FC need to sign a new midfielder this month
Maurizio Sarri has revealed that he wants to sign a new midfielder to replace Cesc Fabregas at Chelsea FC this month.
Fabregas, 31, completed a move to AS Monaco earlier this month as he chose to seek a switch away from Stamford Bridge following his lack of playing time under Sarri this season.
Chelsea FC have already signed Christian Pulisic from Borussia Dortmund but he has been loaned back to the German club until the end of the season.
Now, Sarri has admitted that he has told Chelsea FC chiefs that the club do need to bring in a replacement for Fabregas before the transfer window closes at the end of the month.
The Blues boss has revealed that he has been in close contact with Chelsea FC director of football Marina Granovskaia as the west London side look to strengthen their squad this month.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Guardian, Sarri said: “We need a replacement [for Fabregas], in my opinion. Marina knows very well my opinion. So I’m not frustrated at the moment.”
Pressed further on his January transfer plans, Sarri continued: “Marina knows my opinion on how to improve the team.
“I am confident because I know Marina is working very hard, but I don’t know the market at all.
“I want to be focused on the matches. So I don’t call her every evening, otherwise I’d spend all my mental energy on the market.”
Chelsea FC are looking to try and break back into the top four this season as they aim to try and qualify for next term’s Champions League.
