Pat Nevin raises questions about Willian’s future at Chelsea FC
The Chelsea FC legend opens up about Willian's future at Stamford Bridge after the signing of Christian Pulisic
Pat Nevin has suggested that Willian’s time at Chelsea FC could be coming to an end.
The Brazil international has been a key member of the Chelsea FC squad over the past six seasons since his move to the Blues from Russian football in 2013.
The Chelsea FC winger was part of the Blues team that won the Premier League title in 2014-15 and 2016-17 under both Antonio Conte and Jose Mourinho.
Willian has scored two goals and has made three assists in 20 games in the Premier League since Maurizio Sarri took over the reins at Stamford Bridge.
While Sarri clearly rates Willian given his number of appearances this season, the Brazilian forward is facing a battle to maintain his starting spot.
The Blues signed Christian Pulisic in a £58m deal from Bundesliga side Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday to land their first deal of the January transfer window.
Pulisic won’t complete a move to Chelsea FC until the summer to give Willian another few months to win over Sarri ahead of next season.
However, former Blues winger Nevin suggested that Willian could be coming to the end of his Chelsea FC career.
“You are looking at Willian…” Nevin told Irish radio station Newstalk.
“He is 30. I don’t know how much longer he is going to last at the very top level. [But] he is having a good season again.”
Willian – who did not feature during the FA Cup win over Nottingham Forest at the weekend – has won two Premier League titles, the League Cup and the FA Cup during his spell at Chelsea FC.
