Michael Owen is tipping Chelsea FC to earn a 1-0 win over Tottenham at Stamford Bridge on Thursday night in the League Cup semi-final second leg.

The Blues head into the game looking to bounce back from the disappointment of their 2-0 loss to Arsenal in the Premier League at The Emirates on Saturday night.

Chelsea FC are trailing the semi-final tie 1-0 after Harry Kane’s penalty earned Spurs a win at Wembley in the first leg earlier this month.

Former Liverpool FC and Manchester United striker Owen is backing the Blues to earn a 1-0 win in 90 minutes on Thursday night at Stamford Bridge and force the tie into extra-time and to penalties.

Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Spurs have won their last three games against rivals Chelsea, but I expect the Blues to bounce back after their disappointing reverse at the Emirates on Saturday evening – although Arsenal were outstanding on the night and thoroughly deserved the three points.”

“It promises to be tight and tense at the Bridge and remember, away goals do not count in the competition this season.

“Chelsea to get a narrow win for me in a tie I feel could go all the way to extra-time and penalties.”

Chelsea FC currently find themselves in fourth place in the Premier League table and just three points ahead of fifth-placed Arsenal and sixth-placed Manchester United.

After Thursday’s game, the Blues will then turn their attentions towards preparing for their FA Cup fourth round clash against Sheffield Wednesday at Stamford Bridge on Sunday evening.

The west London side are aiming to try and break back into the top four this season after they finished fifth and won the FA Cup last term under Antonio Conte.
