Maurizio Sarri issues update on Eden Hazard’s Chelsea FC future
Maurizio Sarri delivers an update about Eden Hazard's Chelsea FC future
Maurizio Sarri believes that Eden Hazard should be allowed to leave Chelsea FC if he wants to this summer.
The 28-year-old Belgian has been regularly linked with a move away from the west London side in recent seasons and that speculation has heightened after he entered into the final 18 months of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
Hazard has been regularly touted as a target for Real Madrid and it remains to be seen whether the Spanish giants will make a move to try and land the Belgian in the summer.
The playmaker is widely regarded as one of European football’s top talents and Chelsea FC fans will clearly be keen to see Hazard stay at the club.
However, although Sarri admits that he would love for Hazard to stay, he believes that the playmaker should be free to make up his own mind about his future.
Sarri is quoted as saying by Metro: “Eden is 28. If he wants to go, I think he has to go. Of course, I hope the opposite.
“I hope he wants to stay here with us and improve. He has the potential to be the best player in Europe a the moment.
“Sometimes he’s happy with something less. It’s my job to improve him and put him in a position to do his best.
“Sometimes I have to say something in the pressroom on that. It’s normal. It’s my job.”
Chelsea FC are looking to try and finish in the top four this season as they bid to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Sarri will aim to win his first trophy as Chelsea FC manager when his side take on Manchester City in the League Cup final on 24 February at Wembley.
