Gary Lineker reacts to Mo Salah’s goal in Liverpool FC’s 4-3 win over Crystal Palace
The Spurs legend reflects on Liverpool FC's 4-3 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday evening
Gary Lineker praised Mohamed Salah for his performance in Liverpool FC’s 4-3 win against Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Crystal Palace were 3-2 winners against Manchester City at The Etihad in December to help Liverpool FC establish a lead at the top of the table.
Roy Hodgson’s side threatened to become the second Premier League team to beat Liverpool FC in three games when Andros Townsend broke the deadlock in 34th minute after Wilfried Zaha’s excellent run.
However, Salah equalised inside 60 seconds of the second half with a deft finish after Virgil van Dijk’s shot was deflected into his path, before Roberto Firmino fired the Reds into a narrow 2-1 lead.
But Palace hit back when James Tomkins headed past Liverpool FC number one Alisson Becker to level the Premier League clash in the 65th minute.
Salah scored his 16th goal of the Premier League season when Julian Speroni’s mishandled a long ball and the striker bundled the ball over the line before Sadio Mane netted an added-time goal to seal a win.
Match Of The Day host Lineker took to Twitter to react to Salah’s second goal at Anfield.
Lineker wrote on Twitter: “Liverpool lead through possibly the closest tap-in in the history of football from Salah.”
On Salah’s first goal, the former Tottenham striker added:
“Salah equalises with a clever finish….and before you whataboutery obsessives start, yes we’ll look at his dive on @BBCMOTD tonight.”
Palace became the first team to score three times against Liverpool FC in a Premier League game this season after Max Meyer scored in the fifth minute of added time.
Liverpool FC will take on Leicester, West Ham and Bournemouth in their next three Premier League games before the Reds make the trip to Manchester United on 24 February.
