Jurgen Klopp has explained why he can’t enjoy Liverpool FC’s title challenge this season.

The Reds are looking to win the Premier League crown for the first time in their history under the German head coach and they are currently flying high at the top of the table.

Klopp is aiming to become the first Liverpool FC manager to get his hands on the English top-flight trophy since Sir Kenny Dalglish in 1990.

The German’s predecessor Brendan Rodgers, Rafael Benitez and Gerard Houllier all led Liverpool FC to a second-place finish but fell just short of football immortality.

Speaking to BBC Sport about the title race ahead of Manchester City’s 2-1 loss to Newcastle United on Tuesday night, Klopp opened up about the stress of the title race.

“It’s not the biggest stress in the world, but it’s so intense and so important and all in a short time,” Klopp said.

“Football is not the most important thing in the world, but at these moments, of course, it feels like that because we have nothing else to do.

“It’s not easy to enjoy but I love what I do.”

Liverpool FC finished in fourth place in their last two seasons in the Premier League to find a level of consistency.

Klopp signed Virgil van Dijk and Alisson Becker in 2018 to overhaul his Liverpool FC defence and transform the Reds into title challengers.

The Merseyside outfit have 14 games left to play in the title race.

They will return to Premier League action on Monday 4 February when they take on West Ham United at the London Stadium.
