Jurgen Klopp told these two Liverpool FC stars need to stay fit in title race
Chris Sutton believes Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk need to stay fit if Liverpool FC are going to win the title
Liverpool FC will win the Premier League title if Jurgen Klopp is able to keep key players Mohamed Salah and Virgil van Dijk fit, according to Chris Sutton.
The Reds are in a strong position in the Premier League title race thanks to a brilliant start to their third full season under Klopp.
Liverpool FC have won 18 of their 22 games in the current campaign and only Manchester City have managed to beat the Merseyside outfit.
Klopp’s side responded from a 2-1 loss to Manchester City at The Etihad by easing to a 1-0 win at Brighton and Hove Albion last weekend.
Salah scored the winner from the penalty spot against Brighton, before the Egypt international continued his prolific form with two goals in Liverpool FC’s thrilling 4-3 victory over Crystal Palace at Anfield on Saturday afternoon.
Liverpool FC have also relied heavily upon Van Dijk to keep their title pursuit on track as the Netherlands international continues to lead their defence.
The Reds have kept 13 clean sheets in 23 games and have only conceded 13 goals in the current campaign to highlight their impressive progress at the back.
Former Chelsea FC striker Sutton is backing Liverpool FC to win the Premier League title – if both Salah and Van Dijk stay fit.
“Liverpool, if they keep their key players fit, they will probably go all the way [and win the title],” Sutton told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“It’s whether Van Dijk stays fit. It’s whether Salah stays fit. That’s going to be the key.”
Liverpool FC – who take on Leicester in their next game – finished in fourth place in the Premier League table last season.
