Jamie Redknapp: Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has improved this Man United duo
The Liverpool FC legend is impressed with David De Gea and Paul Pogba since the change of management at Man United
Jamie Redknapp has credited Ole Gunnar Solskjaer with improving David De Gea and Paul Pogba at Manchester United.
The former Red Devils striker was appointed as Jose Mourinho’s replacement in December following a 3-1 loss at Liverpool FC.
Pogba was out of favour under Mourinho and was left out of the Portuguese’s final three games in charge of the 20-time English champions.
However, Pogba has enjoyed a return to form since Solskjaer’s appointment, with five goals and four assists in six games.
The World Cup winner created the assist for Marcus Rashford’s goal in a 1-0 win against Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley.
De Gea made 11 saves to keep Tottenham Hotspur at bay and cement their sixth win in all competitions under Solskjaer.
Pogba continued his excellent run with the opener in Manchester United’s 2-1 win against Brighton at Old Trafford on Saturday afternoon.
Former Liverpool FC captain Redknapp believes De Gea and Pogba have both rediscovered their best form in the past month or so.
“I just think Pogba is enjoying his football. He has freedom, he has a manager that believes in him, but the point is it’s not just Pogba, it’s everybody,” Redknapp told Sky Sports.
“Pogba is so high profile that he’s the one we focus on, but what about all the other players? What about the goalkeeper [David de Gea] that couldn’t make a save to save his life a while ago, now he looks like the keeper we all knew.
“It’s the same for every player in that United side.”
Manchester United will take on Ligue 1 side Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League round of 16 next month.
The Red Devils haven’t won the Premier League title since 2013 and have only finished in the top four on three occasions in the past five and a half seasons.
