Andy Cole believes that both Anthony Martial and David De Gea are now likely to sign new contracts at Manchester United.

The pair’s futures were sources of speculation under Jose Mourinho as the clocked ticked down on their current deals at Old Trafford.

However, Manchester United have enjoyed a dramatic turnaround in form since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was brought in as the club’s new manager on an interim basis last month.

The Red Devils have won all eight of their games under the Norwegian in all competitions to reignite their hopes of finishing in the top four this season.

Both De Gea and Martial’s contracts were due to expire in the summer, but reports in the media have suggested that Manchester United have activated options to extend both deals by a further year until 2020.

Now, former Manchester United star Cole seems to think that the club’s impressive form under Solskjaer is likely to inspire the likes of De Gea and Martial to commit their futures to the club.

Speaking in an interview with Sky Sports, as quoted by the Daily Express, Cole said: “Martial looks like he wants to sign a new contract now.

“He is [making the right noises]. A few months ago he was like, ‘I’m not sure I really want to stay’. So that says a lot as well.

“No doubt the goalkeeper will end up doing that [too] – as well as quite a few other players who are coming out of contract.”

Manchester United will host Burnley in the Premier League at Old Trafford on Tuesday night.
