The 19-year-old is widely regarded as one of the most talented young players in Europe and he has inevitably been linked with some of Europe’s top clubs.
According to the Manchester Evening News, Manchester United have been linked with a move to sign De Ligt for some time.
The central defender has scored two goals and made one assist in 16 Dutch league appearances so far for Ajax this season.
However, Ajax legend Van Loen feels that De Ligt would be better suited to a move to the Premier League and Manchester United than a switch to Old Trafford.
Speaking in an interview with Goal, as quoted by the Manchester Evening News, Van Loen said: “I think Manchester United is perfect for De Ligt.
“I hope De Ligt rejects Juventus’ offer – Italian football does not suit him and the Premier League is much better and stronger.”
Manchester United are bound to be linked with a number of players this month as they consider bolstering their squad ahead of the second part of the season.
Whether they actually do any business, however, remains to be seen, with the club having only recently appointed Ole Gunnar Solskjaer as interim boss last month following Jose Mourinho’s sacking.
