Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers Man United update on Anthony Martial
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers the latest update on Anthony Martial's fitness at Man United
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is hoping that Anthony Martial will have recovered from an injury in time for Manchester United’s trip to Leicester City this weekend.
The French striker sat out Manchester United’s 2-2 draw with Burnley at Old Trafford on Tuesday night due to a “slight” injury.
However, the Red Devils boss has revealed that he his hopeful that the injury problem is not too serious and that Martial could be fit for the Premier League trip to the King Power Stadium.
Speaking in an interview with MUTV, Solskjaer said: “He [Martial] got a slight injury in training but hopefully he’ll be back for next weekend.
“But there was no chance he could play today [against Burnley] so it was easy enough to put Romelu [Lukaku] on the pitch.”
Manchester United fans will be hoping to see Martial back in action sooner rather than later given his impressive form in recent games.
The 23-year-old France international has scored eight goals and made one assist in 18 Premier League games so far this term and has also scored twice in the cup competitions.
Manchester United are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table as they look to continue their push for a top-four finish under interim boss Solskjaer.
Tuesday night’s draw was the first time that the Red Devils had dropped points since Solskjaer’s appointment as Jose Mourinho’s successor back in December.
