Ole Gunnar Solskjaer replies when asked if Man United will make any January signings
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer delivers an update on Man United's plans for the January transfer window
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has said that he does not expect Manchester United to make any signings in the January transfer window.
The Red Devils interim boss has been earning plenty of praise for the impact he has had at Old Trafford since taking over from Jose Mourinho back in December.
Solskjaer has led Manchester United to four straight victories in the Premier League to reignite the Red Devils’ hopes of finishing in the top four this season.
Now that the January transfer window is open, it is somewhat inevitable that the Red Devils will be linked with a number of potential recruits.
However, the Red Devils interim boss has now indicated that he is not expecting the club to make any major signings this month.
Speaking at a news conference on Friday morning before the clash against Reading in the FA Cup, Solskjaer said of the January transfer window: “I don’t expect anyone to come in.
“Obviously if the club have targeted and identified a few and I think they might fit here then I’ll give my thumbs up. But it’s not just my decision. I’m happy with the squad I’ve got.”
The Manchester United manager seems content to focus on trying to get the best out of his current players at Old Trafford following the Red Devils’ strong start to his spell in charge.
He continued: “When you win games of football you’re happy. There’ll be tougher games coming up, we know that.
“I thought [last week’s 2-1 win at] Newcastle was a great example of that… we didn’t just get that first goal [early] so we could sit back and counter.
“We had to work hard for it, we had to defend and at half-time you think, we’ll learn about the players in games like this because we’re expected to win.
“But it doesn’t always happen like you expect. I thought the response was fantastic in the second half.”
Manchester United will take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon in their next game.
