Anthony Martial is close to agreeing a new five-year contract with Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.

Sky Sports is reporting that the 23-year-old France international is closing in on a new deal with the Red Devils as the Premier League outfit look to secure his long-term future.

Martial’s current contract is due to expire at the end of next season and it seems that he is set to sign a new and improved deal at Old Trafford.

The striker had scored nine goals in all competitions for the Red Devils before this weekend’s round of Premier League fixtures and he has been in solid form for Ole Gunnar Solsjkaer’s side.

According to the same report, the discussions with Martial over a new deal recently reached a breakthrough after the striker had rejected a new contract back in October.

The story also says that Manchester United chiefs were always keen to tie Martial down to a new long-term deal.

Meanwhile, Manchester United will take on Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round at The Emirates on Friday night as they look to continue their strong start under interim boss Solskjaer.
