Athletic Bilbao are interested in a deal to re-sign Ander Herrera from Manchester United, according to reports in the British media.

The Daily Mail is reporting that the Spanish outfit are keen on making a number of signings – and Red Devils midfielder Herrera is on their list of potential targets.

Herrera left Bilbao to sign for Manchester United back in the summer of 2014 and he has become a popular figure amongst Manchester United supporters.

This season, Herrera has scored two goals and made three assists in 14 Premier League appearances for Manchester United.

The same story carries quotes from Bilbao sporting director Rafael Alkorta as claiming that the Spanish side are interested in re-signing a number of their former players, including Herrera.

The same article says that the 29-year-old midfielder may be available on a free transfer at the end of the season, when his contract is due to expire.

Meanwhile, Herrera could be set to feature for Manchester United in the biggest test of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s spell in charge when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Sunday afternoon.

The Red Devils are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table.
