Man United are getting closer to agreeing a new contract with striker Anthony Martial, say reports
Manchester United have made significant progress in a bid to tie Anthony Martial down to a new contract, according to reports in the British media.
ESPN is reporting that the Red Devils are getting closer to agreeing a contract extension with the 23-year-old France striker.
According to the same story, the talks about a new contract have lasted more than a year, but they are now reaching a conclusion and the Red Devils are hopeful that Martial will sign a new five-year deal with the Old Trafford outfit.
The same article says that there has been a “breakthrough” in discussions and that the contract saga is now set for a “swift” resolution.
The French forward has been in solid form for Manchester United so far this season, scoring eight goals and making one assist in 18 Premier League games.
He has also netted once in the Champions League for the Red Devils to help them make it through to the last 16.
Martial will be expecting to feature for Manchester United when the Red Devils travel to Arsenal in the fourth round of the FA Cup on Friday night.
Manchester United head into the game looking to maintain their 100 per cent record under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.
