The Independent is reporting that the interim Manchester United manager is hoping to add more depth to his defensive with a quality signing this month.
The same article states that Solskjaer has told the Red Devils board that he is content with his Manchester United squad but the boss wants a new centre-half.
According to the same story, Manchester United have been long-term admirers of Inter Milan defender Milan Skriniar and Napoli centre-half Kalidou Koulibaly.
However, The Independent report adds that Manchester United haven’t put much work into potential January transfers, which could be interpreted as a stumbling block to any deals this month.
Manchester United have conceded 32 times in 21 games in the Premier League this season, which translates to the seventh worst defensive record in the English top flight.
The Red Devils are in sixth place in the Premier League table following four successive victories over Cardiff City, Huddersfield Town, Bournemouth and Newcastle United.
Manchester United’s four successive wins have left them three points adrift of fifth-placed Arsenal and a further three points behind bitter rivals Chelsea FC, who occupy the final Champions League qualification spot.
