Manchester United is an unlikely destination for Belgian winger Yannick Carrasco this month, Belgian reporter Kristof Terreur has told Sky Sports.

The 25-year-old is being linked with a return to European football despite his lucrative move to Chinese Super League club Dalian Yifang in 2017.

Carrasco and his family are thought to be eager to leave China and the Premier League has been touted as his preferred destination.

Manchester United have been touted as a potential suitor to sign the Belgium international, who was considered an exciting prospect before his move to the Far East.

The Red Devils could face competition from their bitter Premier League rivals Arsenal, although his wages could prove problematic for both English clubs.

Carrasco’s direct approach and pace would certainly fit the style of football that Manchester United are playing under interim manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

However, Belgian reporter Terreur has poured cold water on talk of Carrasco completing a switch to the 20-time English champions this month.

“He wants to go to England,” Terruer told the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast.

“I don’t think Manchester United need this type of player right now. They have Rashford, Lukaku, Lingard, Sanchez and Martial. They have a lot of players.

“I don’t think he would play there [at Manchester United]. He isn’t a priority [for them].”

Manchester United have been in fine form under Solskjaer after the ex-Norway international replaced Jose Mourinho in the Old Trafford hot seat last month.

The Red Devils recorded their toughest win to date when Manchester United beat Tottenham 1-0 at Wembley last weekend.
