The north London side are preparing to host the Red Devils in what is set to be Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s first real test as interim boss of Manchester United.
The Red Devils have a 100 per cent record under the Norwegian manager since his appointment as Jose Mourinho’s successor last month.
However, Tottenham will certainly present the biggest test of his short stint in charge as the Red Devils prepare to head to the capital on Sunday afternoon.
Manchester United head into the game on the back of their 2-0 win over Reading in the FA Cup last weekend, while Tottenham beat Chelsea FC 1-0 in the first leg of their League Cup semi-final in midweek.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen is expecting to see a closely fought encounter between the two sides.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “This is the acid test for Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s new-look Manchester United and the Norwegian is looking to emulate the legendary Sir Matt Busby and win his first five league games.
“Spurs won the reverse fixture 3-0 at Old Trafford earlier in the season, but this is a United side playing with pace and flair and not lacking in confidence.
“United have lost their last three league games at Spurs and they could lose a fourth.
“But what I do expect is to see chances and goals at both ends in what promises to be a cracking game and a true barometer of where this new United are in relation to the other elite Premier League sides.”
Manchester United head into this weekend’s round of fixtures in sixth place in the Premier League table as they look to try and break back into the top four.
The Red Devils finished second and without a trophy under Jose Mourinho last season.
