Alexis Sanchez sends frank message to Man United fans
Alexis Sanchez gives an honest assessment of his form at Manchester United this season
Alexis Sanchez has admitted that he is worried about his poor form for Manchester United.
The Chile international has struggled with form and fitness issues this season and has not been a regular fixture in the first team at Old Trafford as a result.
Sanchez was widely criticised for his performance from the bench in Manchester United’s 2-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the last 16 of the Champions League last week.
The 30-year-old has only scored one goal and made three assists in the Premier League this season and he has only started six games in the top flight.
His form has inevitably been a talking point since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over from Jose Mourinho at Manchester United back in December.
And the former Arsenal star has given an honest assessment of his form in recent months.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Sanchez said: “He [Solskjaer] hasn’t spoken to me a great deal about what I have to do on the pitch, but I think I’m an experienced player and I think I know what I need to do and what I shouldn’t do.
“I’m a player that, if I’m not in contact with the ball, I lose that spark, and sometimes I want to play in every game. You’re in, you’re out, and I’m used to playing.
“It’s not an excuse because if I go on for 10, 20 minutes, I have to perform because that’s what I’m here for, to make a difference.
“I would like to have brought more joy to the club. Yes, it worries me because I believe in my abilities as a player, I want to show it.”
Sanchez will be hoping to feature when Manchester United return to FA Cup action with a trip to Chelsea FC in the fifth round on Monday night.
The Red Devils are aiming to go one step further in the competition this term after losing last season’s final to Chelsea FC.
