Piers Morgan has taken to social media to single out Alex Iwobi for special praise after Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday.

Iwobi featured for 75 minutes before he had to be replaced at The Emirates after sustaining an injury.

Alexandre Lacazette put Arsenal ahead in just the sixth minute in north London when he reacted quickest to turn home Henrikh Mkhitaryan’s effort.

And Mkhitaryan made it 2-0 in the 17th minute as Arsenal secured a relatively comfortable victory in the Premier League.

The result moved Arsenal back into the top four, with Unai Emery’s men currently fourth in the table and a point ahead of Manchester United, who drew 0-0 with Liverpool FC at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Celebrity Arsenal fan Morgan was clearly impressed by Iwobi’s display before his afternoon was cut short due to injury.

Morgan wrote on Twitter after the final whistle: “FT: 2-0. Good performance. Hope Iwobi’s OK, thought he played really well today until his injury. #AFCvSFC.”

Arsenal will now turn their attentions towards their home clash against Bournemouth at The Emirates on Wednesday night as they aim to continue their push towards Champions League qualification.

The north London side will then next be in action when they take on Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley on Saturday 2 March.
