Arsenal head race to sign 21-year-old Premier League defender – report
Arsenal are interested in Crystal Palace right-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report in England
Arsenal are the front-runners to sign Crystal Palace full-back Aaron Wan-Bissaka, according to a report in England.
The Sun is reporting that the Gunners are interested in the 21-year-old right-sided defender following his impressive season at Selhurst Park.
The same article states that Wan-Bissaka has the necessary traits that Arsenal manager Unai Emery wants at right-back.
According to the same story, the Gunners would have to produce a transfer fee in the region of £40m to land the Palace defender.
The Sun suggests that the north London side could face competition from Everton, who were the first club to register an interest in the England Under-21 international.
Wan-Bissaka has made one assist in 25 appearances in the Premier League this season for Roy Hodgson’s side.
The Crystal Palace defender has been capped at Under-21 level for England but Wan-Bissaka hasn’t earned his first call-up to Gareth Southgate’s squad.
Arsenal suffered a blow earlier this season when Spain international Hector Bellerin suffered a serious knee problem.
Emery has been forced to use veteran Switzerland defender Stephan Lichtsteiner at right back or right win-back in Bellerin’s absence.
Arsenal will face Ligue 1 side Rennes in the Europa League round of 32 after a 3-1 aggregate win against BATE Borisov in the previous round.
