Arsenal have been scouting RB Leipzig defender Ibrahima Konate and are set to make the teenager a summer target, according to a report in Germany.

German media outlet Sport Bild, as quoted by The Sun, is reporting that Arsenal manager Unai Emery is interested in a potential swoop to sign the Bundesliga starlet.

The same article states that the Gunners are keeping an eye on Konate as Emery looks to tackle the north London side’s defensive problems ahead of the 2019-20 Premier League season.

According to the same story, the Emirates Stadium outfit have already watched the 19-year-old on a number of occassions and Arsenal have been impressed with his performances.

However, Arsenal could have competition for his signature with their London rivals Chelsea FC and West Ham United keen on the African starlet.

The Blues, like Arsenal, have also been scouting the RB Leipzig teenager ahead of a potential bid to sign the promising centre-half.

Konate has represented France at Under-16, Under-17, Under-19 and Under-20 level.

The promising French defender can take encouragement from Matteo Guendouzi’s success at Arsenal this season after his summer move from Lorient.

The bustling midfielder has already made 30 appearances in all competitions in his debut season in England, including 21 games in the Premier League.
