Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Napoli star Piotr Zielinski, according to a report in Italy
Arsenal are hoping to land the signing of Napoli midfielder Piotr Zielinski, according to a report in Italy.
Italian media outlet Corriere del Mezzogiorno, as quoted by the Daily Mirror, is reporting that the Gunners are interested in a potential swoop to sign the Poland international.
The same article states that the north London side could face competition from Liverpool FC in the summer transfer window.
According to the same story, the Merseyside outfit were interested in a deal to sign the tenacious midfielder in 2016 but Zielinski’s switch to Anfield failed to materliase.
Corriere del Mezzogiorno go on to suggest that Liverpool FC have maintained an interest in the Napoli star following reports in the past months that Jurgen Klopp has spoken to the Polish star.
Zielinski has netted 18 times in 128 games in all competitions over the past three seasons following his move to Napoli from Empoli in 2016.
Arsenal manager Unai Emery has already attempted to make improvements to his midfield since taking over from Arsene Wenger back in May.
The Spanish head coach signed Lucas Torreira from Sampdoria and French teenager Matteo Guendouzi from Lorient in the 2018 summer transfer window.
Arsenal brought in Spanish midfielder Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona on loan for the remainder of the season in January.
