Unai Emery’s Arsenal summer transfer budget revealed – report
The Arsenal manager will have limited funds to spend on new signings in the summer transfer window, according to a report
Unai Emery will have just £40m to spend on signings in the summer transfer window, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that the Gunners are set to hand their Spanish manager a measly transfer budget at the end of the season.
The same article states that Emery will have to work with limited funds as the Arsenal boss looks to improve some clear areas of weakness in his squad.
Arsenal signed Denis Suarez on loan from FC Barcelona in the January transfer window and the Gunners can make the deal permanent for an £18m fee in the summer.
According to the same story, Emery will have £22m to spend on new signings should the Spanish head coach opt to sign his former Sevilla midfielder on a permanent deal.
The Daily Mirror suggests that the Arsenal defence is one area that Emery would like to strengthen ahead of his second season in charge of the north London side.
This is hardly a surprise given the Gunners have conceded 36 times in 25 games in the Premier League this season.
Emery signed Stephan Lichtsteiner, Sokratis Papastathopolous, Bernd Leno, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer in an attempt to improve their defence.
Arsenal are in sixth place and three points adrift of Chelsea FC.
