Mark Lawrenson states his prediction for Arsenal v Bournemouth
The Liverpool FC legend is backing Arsenal to ease to victory over Bournemouth at The Emirates on Wednesday night
Mark Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to ease to a 2-0 win against Bournemouth at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The Gunners are in fourth place in the Premier League table after their straightforward 2-0 victory over Southampton in north London on Sunday.
Unai Emery’s side have won four of their last five Premier League games to keep pace with Manchester United.
Goals from Alexandre Lacazette and Henrikh Mkhitaryan helped Arsenal to ease to a 2-0 win and hoist themselves into fourth place after Manchester United drew 0-0 with Liverpool FC.
The north London side have won four of their last six fixtures against Eddie Howe’s side to make Arsenal firm favourites.
Former Liverpool FC defender Lawrenson is backing Arsenal to beat Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium on Wednesday night.
“Arsenal have already disposed of one south coast team at the Emirates Stadium this week, and I am going for the same result again,” Lawrenson told BBC Sport.
“The Gunners are back up into fourth place after beating Southampton on Sunday and although they have some issues that need sorting out, their home form against teams from mid-table and below is not one of them.
“Bournemouth have not won on the road in the league since the end of October. I cannot see them changing that on Wednesday.”
Arsenal were 2-1 winners against Bournemouth at the Vitality Stadium in November thanks to Jefferson Lima’s own goal and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s strike.
The Gunners were 3-0 winners against BATE Borisov in the second leg of their Europa League tie to book their place in the round of 16.
Emery’s side will take on Ligue 1 outfit Rennes in the next stage as the Spanish head coach looks to win the competition for a fourth time.
Arsenal finished in sixth place in the Premier League under Arsene Wenger table last season.
