Paul Merson reveals his prediction for Arsenal v Bournemouth
Paul Merson looks ahead to Arsenal's home clash with Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday
Paul Merson is backing Arsenal to claim a 3-1 win over Bournemouth in the Premier League on Wednesday night to keep their top-four bid on track.
Unai Emery’s men moved back into fourth place in the Premier League table on Sunday thanks to their 2-0 win over Southampton in the top flight at The Emirates.
The north London side are now one point ahead of fifth-placed Manchester United heading into this week’s round of fixtures.
And former Arsenal star Merson seems to think that the Gunners are well-placed to claim all three points when they welcome Eddie Howe’s side to The Emirates on Wednesday night.
Writing in his column for Sky Sports, Merson said: “Arsenal are flat-track bullies, aren’t they? They finish these teams off. With Bournemouth’s injuries, I can only see an Arsenal win. This would be another great result in the top-four race.
“One point ahead of United, I’m still not sure I see Arsenal getting Champions League. They’ve got a bad result in them. They will be caught up in the end.”
Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the top four this season after they finished outside of the Champions League qualification spots in Arsene Wenger’s final two campaigns in charge.
The Gunners will take on Rennes in the last 16 of the Europa League next month as they look to progress in Europe’s second tier club competition.
If Arsenal finish outside the top four this term, they could still qualify for next season’s Champions League by winning the Europa League this year.
