Michael Owen reveals his prediction for Arsenal v Southampton
Michael Owen looks ahead to Arsenal's home clash with Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday
Michael Owen is backing Arsenal to claim a home victory when they host Southampton in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon.
The north London side head into the game looking to keep up their push for a top-four finish this season in Unai Emery’s first campaign in charge at the club.
Emery has been tasked with steering Arsenal back into the Champions League qualification spots this season as the north Londoners look to try and finish in the top four.
Arsenal currently find themselves in fifth place in the Premier League table and one point behind fourth-placed Manchester United as they look to keep up their push for Champions League qualification.
Southampton, meanwhile, are currently 18th in the table and have not won any of their last three games in the Premier League.
And former Liverpool FC striker Owen believes that Arsenal are poised to claim all three points agains the Saints in front of their home fans on Sunday afternoon at The Emirates.
Writing in his column for BetVictor, Owen said: “Southampton have never won at Arsenal in 19 previous attempts in the Premier League (D5 L14) and I feel the Gunners will make it seven home league wins on the run against a Saints’ side who begin the weekend in the drop zone.
“The Saints are unbeaten in their last four away league games, but they have lost 17 points from winning positions so far this term and that might come back to haunt them at the end of the campaign.
“The Gunners to shade it.”
Arsenal finished sixth in the Premier League table and without a trophy last season under Arsene Wenger, before they brought in Emery as the Frenchman’s successor.
