John Terry has admitted that he wants to see Callum Hudson-Odoi stay at Chelsea FC and fight for his place in the first team.

The 18-year-old’s situation at Stamford Bridge was a source of speculation in the January transfer window as Bayern Munich were repeatedly linked with a move to try and bring him to the Bundesliga.

However, Chelsea FC kept hold of the teenager despite the speculation and his lack of playing time in Maurizio Sarri’s first team this season.

Hudson-Odoi is yet to start a Premier League game for Chelsea FC this season and he has found his first-team opportunities to be limited this season.

Terry says that it is important for the Blues to keep hold of the teenager, and he also believes that Ruben Loftus-Cheek should be given a chance at Stamford Bridge.

Speaking in an interview quoted by Metro, Terry said: We’ve got people like Hudson-Odoi and it’s important to keep him.

“Ruben Loftus-Cheek, is he ready? Let’s find out.

“If we’re not going to win the league then let’s give him a chance in the league. Let’s blood the younger players and see what they’ve got.”

Chelsea FC – who are aiming to break back into the top four this season – will return to Premier League action on Sunday when they take on Fulham in the top flight at Craven Cottage.

They will then be back in Europa League action when they take on Dynamo Kiev in the round of 16 next Thursday night.
