Chelsea FC warned about Eden Hazard future by pundit
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink warns Chelsea FC that they face losing Eden Hazard if they don't finish in the top four
Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink has warned Chelsea FC that they face losing Eden Hazard this summer if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Hazard has long been linked with a transfer to Real Madrid and that speculation is only likely to heighten this summer as he enters into the final year of his contract at Stamford Bridge.
The 28-year-old playmaker is widely regarded as one of European football’s top attacking talents and he has been a key figure for Chelsea FC over the past few seasons.
Chelsea FC fans will clearly be hoping to see Hazard stay at the club and sign a new deal with the Blues.
However, the west London side face an uphill task in trying to break back into the top four this season, with Maurizio Sarri’s side currently sixth in the Premier League table.
And former Chelsea FC man Hasselbaink says that the Blues risk losing Hazard this summer if they fail to qualify for next season’s Champions League.
Speaking in an interview quoted by the Daily Mirror, Hasselbaink said: “It’ll be difficult for Hazard if Chelsea aren’t in the Champions League next season.
“That’s why the game with Tottenham is every bit as vital as the Carabao Cup Final, maybe even more.
“But sooner or later I think the club will have to shuffle things around anyway to provide a pathway for young players like Callum Hudson-Odoi.
“They have some great young players coming through but if they can’t get into the first team they will go to clubs like Manchester United , Liverpool and Spurs who given them a chance.”
Chelsea FC will return to Premier League action on Wednesday night when they host Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
