John Terry sends warning to Chelsea FC ahead of Tottenham clash
John Terry warns Chelsea FC that they must dust themselves down quickly after their League Cup final defeat
John Terry has warned Chelsea FC that they must quickly dust themselves down as they prepare for their Premier League clash against Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night.
The Blues suffered a disappointing defeat on penalties to Manchester City in the League Cup final on Sunday afternoon after a goalless draw following extra-time in the showpiece.
The game was marred by Maurizio Sarri’s farcical substitution incident with Kepa Arrizabalaga, who refused to be substituted late on after appearing to suffer from cramp.
Sarri later explained that the situation was a “misunderstanding” but it only served to highlight the tense situation at Stamford Bridge following a stuttering run of form.
Chelsea FC will welcome Tottenham Hotspur to Stamford Bridge on Wednesday night in the Premier League as they look to try and get their bid to finish in the top four back on track.
And former Chelsea FC captain Terry has told the Blues that it is time for them to step their game up as they aim to bounce back against Spurs.
Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Terry said: “The Spurs game on Wednesday is a massive game for the football club – what it means for the supporters and the players.
“If there was a long break between the games this could drag on but it’s not going to as we can see if Kepa plays in the next game.
“If you were a player in the dressing room you’d be thankful there’s another game in quick succession and to move on from it.”
Chelsea FC are currently in sixth place in the Premier League table and three points behind fourth-placed Arsenal with a game in hand.
