Chelsea FC could move to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan this summer, according to reports
Chelsea FC could make a move to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter Milan this summer after Real Madrid pulled their interest in the Argentine, according to reports.
The Sun is quoting reports from Spanish newspaper Marca as saying that Real Madrid are no longer interested in landing the 25-year-old, whose future has been a subject of speculation recently.
According to the same story, news of Real Madrid pulling out of the race could “alert” Chelsea FC, who are believed to be long-term admirers of the 25-year-old forward.
The same report goes on to claim that Real Madrid cooled their interest in Icardi because of his wife-turned-agent Wanda Nara.
Icardi’s situation is currently in limbo after he was stripped of the captaincy at Inter Milan and dropped from the first team.
The same story claims that is because of an ongoing contract dispute, with his current deal set to expire in 2021.
Icardi has been in decent form so far this season, scoring nine goals and making two assists in 20 Serie A games.
Meanwhile, Chelsea FC are preparing to host Manchester United in the fifth round of the FA Cup at Stamford Bridge on Monday night.
